about

Petter Flaten Eilertsen (b. 1973) is heavily involved in the experimental music scene of Oslo, where he lives and works. His music is based on drones, noise and improvisation.

Eilertsen records and performs solo as Love Hz, Gabriel Mørk and under other aliases. He is a member of Kobi, Alfabulator, Domestic Dwellings, Taperne, Spleppes Splopp and Dip Apple (including members of Acid Mothers Temple and LSD March) plus many other bands and projects, several of which are connected to the artist network Origami Republika. Other collaborators include Maja S. K. Ratkje (SPUNK, Fe-mail), Lasse Marhaug (Jazkamer, DEL), Anla Courtis (Reynols), Charles Hayward (This Heat), Campbell Kneale (Birchville Cat Motel, Our Love Will Destroy The World, Black Boned Angel), Antony Milton (Mrtyu, Nether Dawn, The Stumps), Hiroshi Hasegawa (Astro, C.C.C.C.) and former Cranes guitarist Mark Francombe.

Eilertsen started Synesthetic Recordings in 2000, Kassettkultur in 2009, Lydbilde in 2013, and Hærverk Industrier in 2019. He is also involved in several other labels, in addition to curating various concerts, releases and art exhibitions.

Eilertsen has performed music on about fifty releases, but Pentagramophone is his first "proper" solo album.

If you Google the term “Scandinavian minimalism” you will most likely be drowning in pictures of light and simplistic furniture, made out of birch or pinewood; simple lines and functionality. A more solid made IKEA-adaption for the rich, in timeless style.

But there is also a Scandinavian musical minimalism. Biosphere and Deathprod. Bjørn Torske and Röyksopp. Arne Nordheim and Else Marie Pade. Mayhem and Satyricon. The purity of harsh winter cold sounds, made into windy loops, snowy clusters or endless stretching arctic landscapes. It is within this Nordic tradition Petter Flaten Eilertsen’s debut album is made. His album is Scandinavian minimalism.

Petter Flaten Eilertsen has been part of the Norwegian music scene for more than twenty years. As an underground live musician he has worked with artists like Maja S. K. Ratkje and Lasse Marhaug. He has toured Japan and New Zeeland. He is also a well-known concert arranger, record producer, music distributor and record collector. His CV is longer than a Nordic winter. His field of work has been wider than the cold fields of Lapland. He himself is from the desolate Troms, far north. His music is far north.

Please spend some time listening to this album by Petter Flaten Eilertsen. It will do you good.
